About the Image(s)

The image this month is a bride from London placed in Tinturn Abbey in Wales. Flowers were added to the posts behind the bride creating the floral effect to set off the bride. A cross from a churchyard on the Isle of Skye was added. And a layer of rose petals around the bride added in pin light. A slight glow, vignette and some dodging and burning were also added. The image had a green cast, so I used a slight magenta photo filter to remove the green. The brightness of the image was corrected with camera raw filter.

Very nice bridal Altered Reality portrait. I have to admit that I don't care for the large flowers - for my eyes, they pull the attention away from the bride. I like how the dress pulls some of the colours in from the abbey, but at the same time it does not make the bride pop - call me old fashioned, but brides need to be in white - joking. But see what it would look like. What do you think?   Posted: 11/10/2024 01:57:31

You placed the bride nicely in the archway and I like the rose petals and cross. The flowers don't quite work to my eye, mostly because they seem pasted on. If you placed them in some sort of vessel, like a wicker basket or cement planter, maybe they'd look more like they belong. I agree with Gunter that the color cast is putting the bride in a less-than-white dress. You did a nice job of cutting and pasting your various elements in front of the archway and I like the crop you used on the background.   Posted: 11/15/2024 22:41:19

You have created a good image by cutting and pasting the elements, although I wonder if the cross is really necessary?
I know that PSA definition of creativity requires a departure from reality, but this image proves that creativity can be achieved while still maintaining a sense of a degree of reality!   Posted: 11/23/2024 09:52:07

I like the concept, but I think you've added too much. The large flowers look unnatural, but they don't look pasted. To me, the crop of the dress doesn't work. The red petals on the ground don't match any of the flowers. The hard shadows don't match the soft light in the rest of the image, making it also look unnatural.   Posted: 11/27/2024 19:20:58

Hi Candy. What a wonderful idea. I agree with Jan comments. I like how you positioned the bride in the arcway. Perfect cut and paste of the bride. I also agree with Gunter I prefer bright white gown.   Posted: 11/28/2024 00:55:51
