About the Image(s)

Attached is my image for July. I just got back from a trip to the Palouse region in Eastern Washington. I was with a good group of people, had good leaders and I think that I captured some good images. Most of my images are of rolling farm fields and old barns but this one is of a long abandoned old Chevy pickup truck.

Camera Canon R5, lens Canon RF200-800 at 432mm, 1/100 second (on a tripod), ISO 200 at f14. I made my adjustments in Lightroom, basically I lightened the shadows and darken the highlights.

Best regards and a Happy 4th

Hi Lou,

When I think of the Palouse, I usually picture the rolling wheat and canola fields at sunset, just as you described. This is the run-down side of farming, but it's also representative of much of Eastern Washington. Chevy has long been the go-to truck for many farmers because you can rebuild the engine with just a handful of standard wrenches.

I'm not exactly sure what you wanted us to focus on, but since your title points to the truck, I isolated it, adjusted the tones, and added a slight Gaussian blur in Photoshop and Lightroom. The harsh sunlight makes contrast a real challenge, but I think you handled it pretty well.

Did you use a circular polarizer (CPL) or any fill flash? Either way, I think it's a good environmental image that tells a story.   Posted: 07/13/2026 16:18:18

Hi Lou. I like the crop that Bob did on the Chevy truck. If you ever return to that location, maybe just photograph the truck from a head on position.   Posted: 07/13/2026 17:17:59
