About the Image(s)
This was taken in Death Valley NP on one of our several trips to the park. I used a Nikon D300 with an 18-270mm Tamron lens at 180mm. SS was 1/500, aperture f 10 and ISO 320. I processed it in Elements with NIK and Topaz.

Hi Judy. Congrats on your M2 award. This is also a beautiful image and you used a great camera. I had D300 and D300s and they did a great job, but, The bump up to Nikon D750 and currently D780 you'd be very impressed how much your better your photography has gotten, ie: Much faster auto focus pops in, faster motor drive, "Back button focus", much less dust on the sensor, iso without noise to greater. Use the LCD screen (minor touch exposure) wherever you want on the panel. I know many switching to Z6 to Z8's might be tempting, but that depends on how much new lenses will cost on top of camera. I'm running out of space. I like the way you have this image composed, I might change the moving lower margin so that it crops out the darker grass or whatever and doesn't cut into the sand hill on the left. I'd also try dehaze on the purple mountains in the middle. I'm moving on and you'll find me on group 10 or 80. Keep up the great work. Bob L   Posted: 11/14/2025 18:15:16
I am not getting any more Nikons--too heavy for an old photographer:-). I haven't used any camera in ages and may have to relearn how to use my Olympus gear. That is why I am using old photos. We will miss you in the group.   Posted: 11/22/2025 22:03:11
Hi Judy, Many congratulations on M2 - that is an awful lot of acceptances in international exhibitions, you must have collected a load of Galaxies for that.
This pic has an impressive range of layers, textures and colors. I might be tempted to reduce the magenta slightly in the middle ground, but I can suggest nothing else.   Posted: 11/14/2025 19:06:06

This is a beautiful image, but for me lacks a focal point. Couldn't you get just one guy or his dog to stand on those foreground dunes? :)   Posted: 11/17/2025 19:34:10
Ha--years ago my shooting group talked about using inflatable animals to enhance our photos. I animal would have been nice, but I wouldn't have wanted a person. Maybe I can try to add a Death Valley animal to this.   Posted: 11/22/2025 22:05:19
Hi Judy, I really love grand vistas, and the four layers of your image are terrific. Sometimes it is nice to see it all in an image, and not just the micro sections. As always your shots are exposed perfectly, and everything in focus. I always need to play with images, and all I did was add a little warmth, and hopefully some depth. The eye is drawn to the snow, but the sharp foreground mountain textures add balance.   Posted: 11/21/2025 19:53:51
