About the Image(s)
I took this while on a photo tour of the Palouse in 2014! I used an Olympus EM% with a 9-18mm lens at equivalent 36mm. SS was 1/200. aperture f10 and ISO 200. It was in June when the canola was in bloom, so I took advantage of the color.

Some lovely diagonals. I do find the white house a little distracting at the edge of the frame, could it be toned back a little?. I think Karen's more contrasty effort works well and gives a little more impact.   Posted: 04/11/2025 06:14:02
Judy, I really like your using the fence as a diagonal and the yellow canola background. I agree on the White House and that a textured sky is generally better than a virtually flat gray sky.   Posted: 04/13/2025 16:53:39
Hi Judy, June in the Palouse is about as good as farmland gets. I agree with others that the house is distracting. Your forte has always been focused documentary photography, and this is no exception. A well-done image. The sky and canola are very bright, and the wheels and grass are darker.
I played around with it to add more contrast and cropped it some to make the wheels fill more of the frame. I wish we were younger and more mobile. I have a feeling a wide-angle lens shot from the canola side could have produced a spectacular image.   Posted: 04/15/2025 22:27:25
