About the Image(s)

The landscape is of the Niagara River, below the Falls, on the way to Lake Ontario.
The Native Canadian is a statute not far away from the scene.
Shot at 1/160, f6.3, ISO200, 17mm lens. Post processing in ACR and Ps.
The story I am trying to depict is, what a Native Canadian person might think about in 2025 as he looked over the land that his ancestors called home. One thought might be "Is this still my 'home'?" To our (Canada) shame, we have a disreputable history in how we treated our natives since the first English and French settlers stepped on this land - continuing (although to a much lesser degree) in the present time. As hard as our politicians try to make up for this dishonourable treatment in the past, many Native Canadians are still looking for fairness, dignity, and respect.
Comments and suggestions regarding the image would be much appreciated.

Interesting concept. Perhaps, the statue should have been where you placed it. Yes, natives were not treated well in Canada or the US. But that is sadly true in much of the world. There is an article in the current issue of "American Indian" published by the National Museum of the American Indian about the Global Alliance of Indigenous Peoples, Gender, Justice and Peace. They are working with the UN to help people worldwide. Such museums can help with these issues. I like the scene very much.   Posted: 02/17/2025 20:33:31

I love the idea you have demonstrated here Gunter and I think the placement gives it a slightly surreal quality. I would not change anything.   Posted: 02/22/2025 09:53:13
