Fall Sunrise In Vermont by Bob Legg

January 2025 - Fall Sunrise In Vermont

About the Image(s)

My submission titled ” Fall sunrise in Vermont”. On an October photo trip this was a beautiful but chilly morning. Frost on the pumpkins as they say. Foliage just perfect, and sunrise off to the right. Fog coming off the Connecticut river and looking towards NH.
My settings were iso 400, 300 mm lens, f11 and 1/160sec exposure. With the new Lightroom masks etc it was left to a me as to how much of the shadows to open up and the color of the WB temps. I used temp of 4,999 but it could easily go higher or lower. Your opinions?

WOW - what a gorgeous landscape image - the colours are just amazing and eye popping. Also a very effective composition. I also like the atmospheric conditions.
I wondered what it would look like with a bit more definition, especially in the mid ground area (purplish area). See another version attached. Used Topaz Photo Ai - Denoise and sharpening - light touch. What do you think?   Posted: 01/10/2025 19:15:00

Thanks Gunter for your thoughts. I haven't run Photo Ai on those images but I did run the clarity and Lr DeNoise and I thought it best to stay with the fog.
Also very short on time these days, but not your fault.   Posted: 01/11/2025 01:29:27

Love the layers. I brightened the foreground a little and emphasized the color where the sun might be hitting the leaves. Maybe combine Gunter's and my edits.   Posted: 01/11/2025 16:51:02

Great morning landscape. When you were managing the colors, did you alter the hue or intensity of the beautiful but deeply yellow sky>   Posted: 01/14/2025 01:30:40

It is magical when you can experience a sunrise like this. Really nice proportions and color palette. The muted and foggy middle ground adds mystery. I think you could play around with this almost endlessly and make it different but possibly not better.
