About the Image(s)
Hello Everyone. I'm the newbie in this group and looking forward to swapping images and critiques with you. Here's an image I took of a tufted puffin while visiting the Seattle Zoo. Originally, this was an image of the puffin standing, but I cropped in to focus on the detail of his/her/they (??) head dripping with water. I then selected out noise in the background to show it against a black backdrop. I dodged part of the white part of his head to add some contrast lighting. I used Photoshop exclusively on this so I don't have ISO, speed and F-stop info.

Wow Jim, the details of this bird portrait are extraordinary! Welcome to the group..........we're usually pretty easy on each other, but do give helpful suggestions, which I enjoy reading. I get ideas from others in this group on a regular basis. I also am not shy about asking for ideas for improving an image. I hope you will enjoy being a part of our group! Which camera and lens did you use for this shot? I might have a tendency to dodge a little of the white in the eye circle, just to add emphasis to the eye. What a great capture!   Posted: 09/14/2023 06:33:48
Thanks Wanda. Just got lucky, I guess. It was shot with a Nikon D850. Sorry, I don't have f-stop/speed info.   Posted: 09/24/2023 11:37:19

A great photo and hard to believe that it was originally the bird standing. Amazing sharpness. Welcome to our group and look forward to your comments on how you did it.   Posted: 09/14/2023 10:47:36
Dynamic shot, Jim. Welcome to the group! What a way to start - no pressure on you going forward :) At the Seatlle Zoo - that sure beats boarding a watercraft off Maine's coast to try to capture these beauties. Any idea who its hairstylist is - person did a wonderful job :)   Posted: 09/14/2023 13:36:24

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm still trying to get around the PSA website and understand how everything works, so pardon me if I didn't get right back to you. I'm looking forward to being a member of this group. Jim   Posted: 09/24/2023 11:35:58
