About the Image(s)
While in Ireland, we spent some time in Derry walking around, looking at the murals and learning more about the history of the Troubles.
This scene struck me as even though these children were not born or lived during that time, they appeared to be reenacting the time period.
I post processed in a sepia tone to bring the viewer back in time

I like the sepia tone, it fits the picture well. Also like the story it tells with the kids in it. A minor thing I would correct is the lower left wall has a small part of a darker something that I would either delete or somehow turn it into the same brick wall of the building.   Posted: 08/06/2026 17:28:58
Thanks Kathy, always good to hear different perspectives   Posted: 08/18/2026 20:19:51
I think this is super, Deb, great timing. I would call it visual irony and I think it makes an important statement; to me, that is the greatest impact of the image. It's an interesting way to create a subject that's not strictly visual, kind of like photo journalism, I guess.
To support that idea and try to bring out the main actors, I would suggest a bit of cropping. I like the chimneys a lot but it is a busy scene. Possibly crop from the bottom left to lose the telephone pole and the lighter area at bottom? I made a quick attempt at that and to selectively dodge and burn to get the idea.

Thanks Michael, I did consider different crops, but for me thought the photo became unbalanced and crowded.   Posted: 08/18/2026 20:19:01
Great image. It really tells the story. The sepia finish is perfect.   Posted: 08/18/2026 16:54:25
