About the Image(s)
4 sec at f/20, ISO 64 24 mm
I was challenged by obstructing branches which were unavoidable with a couple dozen photographers lining the rive bank. It was still incredible to see the mist hanging in the valley with the first rays of light arriving. I won’t be able to enter this into competitions with the removal of some branches but it makes it a much better composition without them. Ansel would have probably just cut them down. ???? I provided a JPG of the RAW file unedited as well.

Very peaceful, pretty image, Yosemite is beyond beautiful. I love the little bit of light hitting the rock face.Maybe try getting a bit of blue back into the sky to bring out those little clouds? Slow shutter worked so well to capture the soft water   Posted: 04/06/2026 05:33:58
Glad it worked...Such a beautiful scene, well captured.   Posted: 04/07/2026 06:45:49
Great scene, but I also feel that the sky and highlights are too bright though you captured the colour of the morning light on the rock   Posted: 04/07/2026 16:31:21
Thanks, Deb! I agree it was helpful to bring the levels in the sky down.   Posted: 04/07/2026 20:28:12
I like that you eliminated some of the branches, so what that judges don't like that. It made the composition better and you like it. The sky and light in the original picture seemed better to me. Can you transfer that to this photo. Then print the picture and hang it on your living room wall!   Posted: 04/07/2026 21:26:39

Thanks so much, Firdaus! It felt very special to be there. I won't recognize it without the snow now.   Posted: 04/08/2026 20:20:41

I like the edit you did for Kathy.   Posted: 04/13/2026 17:05:40
Yep, this is one of the great benefits of the group, learning with the help of others eyes and viewpoint.   Posted: 04/13/2026 20:00:59
