About the Image(s)
This image was taken in Alaska at Lake Clark last summer. It is always so fun to be among the bears and watch their behavior.
It was shot at f7.1, 1/2000, ISO 500, 500mm. I cropped the image and lighten the background. I used some sharpening and noise reduction.
I am looking forward to your comments. I am considering printing this.

Nice and sharp for 500mm and I assume hand held! My first thought was here are some friends, so the title is perfect. I think I actually like the darker background as it gives more focus to the bears instead of pulling my eye to the lighter edges.
I am lucky to have a 24" Canon printer and I find it essential to print my better candidates. I can then evaluate and compare images more easily over several days. This often leads to improved edits.   Posted: 04/05/2026 18:09:09

Many thanks for your insight. I do appreciate it. I actually printed as wall art - not needing glass. I do like how it turned out.   Posted: 04/05/2026 20:56:29
Oh how lucky you were to see bears!..that image makes me wonder what they were up to, where they were headed etc. The tight crop would be good for printing, a wider crop would be interesting, showing them in their environment as a digital image.   Posted: 04/06/2026 05:38:36
Thanks so much.   Posted: 04/06/2026 12:30:46
Great capture of the cubs, I like that you cropped in, although I feel that the background is a bit bright. Bears are so fun to see, Well done.   Posted: 04/07/2026 16:35:00

Thanks - I did print it, and it looks great. I am pleased   Posted: 04/08/2026 12:28:03
I also agree cropping this really makes the picture. The bear in the foreground is saying "look over there, she's taking our picture".   Posted: 04/12/2026 20:32:28

It's a great image and you should definitely print it. Consider moving the bears to right so they will not be centered in the image.   Posted: 04/13/2026 17:08:54
