About the Image(s)
Who doesn’t like a good Monarch butterfly! The sun was behind this guy allowing the backside of the wings to glow slightly. They love the Boneset flowers that grow in the fields around my house so I can always find them there in the late summer. I used a shutter speed of 1/3200s @ f/8 with my OM-1 MK2 with 150-400mm @ 400mm. Image was slightly cropped for composition and a slight vignette applied.

Stunning shot. Great choice of background. The far wing being ever so slightly out of focus gives a good depth to the image. It makes me want to get out in my garden with a camera - although it might be some months before the butterflies return! Posted: 10/01/2026 20:07:04
