August 2026 - Snowberry Clearwing moth

These Snowberry Clearwing moths are so photogenic and usually very cooperative photo subjects. I used a high shutter speed to capture the wings of 1/3000s @ f/4.5 with my OM-1 MK2 with 150-400mm @ 400mm.

Interesting image but not much is sharp. Selecting the moth and trying a selective sharpening and darkening the flower to bring out more of the pink would help draw the viewers eye to the subject. Posted: 08/18/2026 14:19:24
Jeremy, You might consider sharpening this image. Also there is part of another visitor to the flower on the right, you might want to clone it out. I looked at your Flickr page and you have some wonderful images there. Posted: 08/21/2026 14:58:08
Jeremy, insect shots are hard. I see the eyes and the proboscis (the feeding apparatus) are in focus and that is what matters. The other part of the body is out of focus suggests the speed of action taking place when this photo was taken. Personally, I don't see this image as not sharp enough (because eye and proboscis in focus), but rather an expression of speed and movement. Just my thought. Posted: 08/24/2026 03:57:27
