About the Image(s)
This picture was taken at Huntington library recently on a photo walk. There were quite a few different colored varieties. Somehow I like the color and position of this one the most. It has a slight dreamy feel to it, reminds me of mid summer dream.

Beautiful capture. At 5.6 all the petals are in focus and I think that was a good choice and you also get a dreamy background. The 1:1 ratio is the right choice as well. The diagonal composition is compelling...top left to bottom right.   Posted: 07/07/2026 13:16:50
Thank you Bollin. The f/5.6 was sort of an happy accident. I forgot to change camera setting when I started taking photos that day. I did not think about the diagonal composition until you pointed it out. Often times, when we are processing our photos, we see how we want it presented (color, composition, and etc). However, as audience, we see it differently and adds more interpretation and technical analysis. Yes, I did want to present a dreamy background. Thank you for the comment, glad to know you like the photo.   Posted: 07/12/2026 03:42:27
Very well composed. It can be hard to take the time to select the perfect flower when you are presented with a field (or pond) that has hundreds laid out for you to choose from. You did well picking this subject and composing it.   Posted: 07/10/2026 12:30:27
Thank you Jeremy. I did try to have different aspect ratio but somehow 1:1 looked the best. There were other objects/plant parts getting in the way for other aspect ratios. I may have tilted the lily a bit in my edit to present this particular angle...
After 2 years of more intense photo taking (the benefit of being empty nested) I had the feeling that post processing makes the biggest difference in how a picture comes out (of course, it cannot be a really bad shot to begin with).   Posted: 07/12/2026 03:51:25
