Morning After December Snowstorm by Eric Schweitzer

December 2025 - Morning After December Snowstorm

About the Image(s)

We were driving from North Carolina to Maryland when we ran into a snowstorm south of Richmond VA. We stopped and spent the night in a hotel. The next morning when we got ready to go, this was the view from the front of the hotel. Shot with a Sony a7, with a 24 - 105 lens set at 1/8000 @f8.0 and ISO 6400.

I live in Richmond so I know what you are talking about with the weather. Smart choice to stop. And this is a beautiful, crisp image that captures the day after the storm. The only thing that I question is in the lower right, just to the left of the bush, there are those parallel lines and I can't figure out what that is and I keep getting stuck there...so maybe take them out?   Posted: 12/12/2025 13:01:37

Eric, a beautiful image! It's sharp, with good color. It makes one believe that there is beauty in cold weather.   Posted: 12/12/2025 17:14:29

Thank you for sharing the winter scene with us (no snow in Southern California). The image appears very "blue" to me. I made some adjustment to make is "warmer". Just my personal preference though.

Great image - it makes me feel cold just looking at it!

I tend to agree with Jennie - it is maybe just a little too blue. I've had a go at warming it - not much different to Jennie's version...   Posted: 12/18/2025 10:30:59
