About the Image(s)
The Great Falls Tavern is now a visitor center and is the closest parking area to the Great Falls of the Potomac. This is a typical summer shoot and the lock is the first lock to catch a replica of the boats which were pulled by donkeys on the towpath which runs along the canal. I took this image last May with my Sony 7MIV with a 24 -105mm lens set at 48mm. Settings were f5.8, 1/125 second and ISO 160. In post I adjusted sharpening and removed noise in Topaz Photo AI. I Lightroom Classic I cropped, adjusted exposure and tone, and made minor lens and color adjustments.

After a long period of dull weather where I live the vibrant colours in this image have really cheered me up! I think that the people on the towpath give the image scale, and I like the composition as it draws the attention to the lock gates.   Posted: 02/19/2025 11:40:16
