Gilt Edged Clouds by Audrey Waitkus

February 2025 - Gilt Edged Clouds

About the Image(s)

I'm very lucky to live west of town -- great morning clouds and even better evening clouds going to and returning from errands. These clouds were a bit of a dash around our village to get the best vantage point before the effect faded away. Taken with my iPhone, ISO 25, f/1.8, 1/174 sec. I cropped out the traffic circle at the bottom of the photo, and cropped in from the sides to just frame the clouds, adjusted the tonality, then cloned out a couple of street lights and saved for web.

Hi Audrey, I love the overall color of the photo. The orange highlight provides some interest and spark to the picture. Great capture!   Posted: 02/08/2025 21:01:28

As Jennie says above, the orange edges to the clouds area good point of interest, especially as they make a pleasing colour-contrast with the blue sky. The foreground trees give the image depth - they could maybe be a little sharper, but that's only a minor point I think, as the main focus is on the sky & clouds.   Posted: 02/19/2025 11:52:47

A nice hazy photo with the golden colors providing points of interest. If the opportunity for another photo like this having just a bit of the sun peeking above the clouds would add a strong focal point.   Posted: 02/19/2025 16:48:33
