About the Image(s)
Robins have been popular subjects on Christmas cards since Victorian times, so it seemed appropriate to use a robin for my image as we enter Advent. I get robins in my garden all year around - one seems to appear as soon it sees me with a spade in my hand. I think the robins you get on your side of the Atlantic are somewhat different?
Shot at f/6,3, 1/800s, ISO14,400.
Not much post-processing - just a crop and some slight de-noise.

I love this shot. In particular, I like the detail and clairty of the bird itself. I looked for a long time at those feathers and the patterns. Very engaging. I like the background blur and am surprised you got that with f6.3. The gray under the branch drew away my attention a bit until I figured out what it was. In the eastern US robins have red breasts not faces but they were close enough so that the name given by the English stuck.   Posted: 12/05/2024 14:33:32

Brian, This is an outstanding image! In Texas, the robins are as Bollin described. We have a few around here. Wishing you and your family a Blessed Christmas.   Posted: 12/13/2024 17:24:42

Brian, love this image! The bird is so sharp and feather and eyes are just so clear and sharp. I specially love the capture of the eye - it captured the essence of the bird; I am curious to know what the bird was looking at (up to my imagination). Love the creamy feel of the blurred background. I noticed the gray under the branch after reading Bollin's comment; however, the gray does compliment the gray feather of the bird and did not really bother me too much. The clarity is amazing considering it was shot at ISO 14.400. It is definitely a great picture.   Posted: 12/15/2024 06:48:58

Great composition, light, and color. Your application of de-noise worked real well. I do not see anything I would suggest adjusting.   Posted: 12/18/2024 17:30:44
