Marilyn - great action shot and love the feeling of movement although you've frozen the action. Nice details on the riders especially the determined expressions. The B/W composition contributes to a gritty/tough emotional feel but I can also envision a more colorful composition of bikes & riders.   Posted: 09/06/2023 12:42:19

Thanks for including the color version. They really evoke different emotions. I think the B&W is more powerful.   Posted: 09/18/2023 15:12:03

In this case I have to agree that the black and white version is more dramatic. Love the lines of the riders with each very sharp...Removing the post in the upper right was necessary for the action.   Posted: 09/18/2023 15:26:46

Being a bike rider myself (however not competitive!), I love this action shot. I agree with decision to make monchrome. There is one tiny thing that I might have tried: I would have cloned the grass to cover the vegetation in the upper right to make a more uniform background.   Posted: 09/19/2023 03:37:36

thank you Richard. Yes I should have cloned the grass on the upper right. Thanks for the suggestion.   Posted: 09/22/2023 19:51:25

I love that you got them all in line and with the same leg positions. The black and white gives off a much different emotion than the color one. I prefer the B&W - great capture!   Posted: 09/24/2023 15:42:48

thank you Julia. I also prefer the B&W.   Posted: 09/24/2023 17:51:27

Hi Marilyn,

I really like this image. (I've been doing some equestrian photography and so hard to get such great focus with moving targets.)
I particularly like the facial expressions you have captured, gives real emotion to the image and dare I say, tells a story.
I also like the B&W image best as I feel the color clutters the image. Just my thoughts :)
