About the Image(s)

This flower is some variety of canna, maybe a canna lily. I cropped the original of the image down as close as I could to still be able to maintain some sharpness. I also tilted the image up to place the center at an angle. I took it into Nik and applied the Glamour Glow filter and a slight vignette. Back in Photoshop I added a one pixel stroke using a shade of the flower as the color. Then I returned to Lightroom and created a mask with the radial filter. I used this to brighten the center of the flower as it was too shaded.
Shot with a 105mm macro lens at f/8, 1/400 sec., ISO 250

How Georgia O'Keefe of you! Wonderful image and excellent processing. This would make an beautiful notecard or a framed image hanging on a museum wall.   Posted: 07/01/2026 13:48:53

Very nice result, and one you worked hard at. The tilting brought about some fine diagonals, which added to the abstract feel of the image. Assuming this was shot indoors, could you have tried adding some fill flash? Very good final and creative composition, drawn from a larger picture.   Posted: 07/05/2026 15:52:37

I have grown these canna flowers for years and they are fascinating. This is a lovely and pristine one. Good tight cropping from a macro capture and good job processing. This could also be stromger by flipping it horizontally.   Posted: 07/12/2026 18:36:15
