About the Image(s)

I captured this image using a Canon 7D, fitted with a 24-105 lens. Shot at 58mm, f/10 and 1/800 second. I cropped and enhanced the colors and made other adjustments in Lightroom. What appeared to me about this image was the contrast of the snow on the brilliant reddish leaves.

Beautiful color of foliage and snow, however, I am not comfortable with the new composition. I cannot rest my eye on one place. I think that the original has a better composition as it is. My eye can rest on the cluster off-center, to the right.   Posted: 04/04/2026 21:48:01

I like what you've spotted here. This reminds me of some Japanese woodblock prints that have the repeated curves formed from ocean waves -- here, you have replaced the waves with repeating areas of snow, and the result is an original naturally occurring abstract. Unique image!   Posted: 04/06/2026 15:05:23

Thanks. I was going for the abstract look.   Posted: 04/06/2026 19:13:45

Very interesting composition. I'm glad you cut away the mist and fog. I wish it were a hair sharper to enhance the stems and bring out the branches a little more.   Posted: 04/07/2026 19:20:50

There is not really a strong subject here, but it works as an abstract. I like the contrast of the white snow against the bright orange. Along those line, I might try to blur the whole image and amp up the color and texture just to emphasize the abstraction.

I like the way you left the lower right corner without the snow. Personally, I think I would like to see a tighter crop from the left. Nice capture though.   Posted: 04/16/2026 23:38:54
