About the Image(s)

I took this photo in October of a band of sheep and three Great Pyrenees dogs in the Sawtooth Mountains wilderness in north central Idaho. The sheep graze in the mountains during the summer, then are moved south out of the mountains in the fall, put on trucks and hauled to warmer climates such as California for the winter. The herds are driven by sheep dogs, such as border collies, and shepherds from Peru. The Great Pyrenees are the guard dogs. They protect the livestock from predators such as coyotes, wolves, mountain lions and bears ??“ all of which are found in this area. Taken with a Canon 7D with a 300mm lens at f/10, 1/400 second with an ISO of 800 to bump up the speed to account for an overcast day. Modest adjustments in Lightroom.
