About the Image(s)

This was taken form my back yard during a typical Florida late afternoon. Making it a vertical rather than a horizontal orientation was strictly just an intuitive feeling ??“ either way could work. I also thought I would try a composition that combined a baroque and contemporary look, if there is such a thing. Taken with my Nikon D500 with an 18-70 mm lens tripod mounted so that I could lower the shutter speed while upping the ISO, since the light was starting to fade.

Jerry, I have done some of these and my attemps were best as verticals. You have an excellent stage to explore under different conditions, especially at sunset time. I think your image is most effective as a vertical. I pumped up the colors a bit and rotated it clockwise, so that the red sky looks like flames of fire going up. Give it some consideration. Consider also cropping some from the bottom to create a better base.   Posted: 07/14/2025 00:26:43

I love the symmetry of your image and the sunset colors are perfect. The colors on the water are more intense than in the sky, so possibly pump up the contrast a bit in the sky. Joe's take on your image makes quite an amazing abstract! I agree with him - give it some consideration. It would be a beautiful print.   Posted: 07/14/2025 17:00:05

A very interesting take on this subject. At first I was going to suggest cropping down on the image but your use of the high clouds as a frame is quite nice. Given that, perhaps a little more saturation on those clouds would make them stand out more.   Posted: 07/19/2025 15:02:03
