As I was going over my Cape Ann, Massachusetts pictures, I thought I would enhancing the Fisherman with a zoom effect. If any of you have visited Gloucester and Rockport, Mass. you know what a photographer paradise these areas are. If you have not, I highly recommend you make a visit there in the spring or fall. These are old Art and Fishing towns with abundant photography. For eleven years I took photographers there. My wife and I loved it there, especially Rockport. We stopped there on our way to and from the 2013 Portland Maine PSA Conference⦠You probably have done the zoom effect or similar to. It is simple. I selected the image and Inverted it, then replaced the background with a colorful sunset, then to Filters >Blur >Radial Blur, click on Zoom, Best, select the amount of zoom desired (I selected 100), move the Blur Center where desired (I aimed for the head of the Fisherman) and OK.

I like this effect Joe. I imagine we all have a lot of landmark type images, and this is a nice treatment so that the image is more than just a statue. I have had a lobster roll in Rockport, and still have a piece of pottery that I bought there. Would love to go back sometime.   Posted: 07/10/2025 16:57:39

By coincidence I just watched 'The Perfect Storm.' What a way to make a living. I like the treatment you gave this with the dramatic and fiery red sky. The question: is this a morning sky or an evening sky? The answer will reveal what kind of day this monument will have....   Posted: 07/14/2025 19:21:34

Jerry, I love your way of finding the hidden points of an image. The sunset or sunrise, was only used as a colorful prop. I could have used any other colorful background, but if we want to maintain the original thougth of a sunrise, then I will say that it was a sunrise and a beautiful morning.   Posted: 07/15/2025 18:56:29

If it was morning...sailor take warning. I've seen a red sky at morning twice in my life and they weren't beautiful mornings. :)   Posted: 07/19/2025 15:55:47

Now THAT'S impact! This should be a poster for the town. I have spent some time in Mass. but never in Rockport and am sorry I missed it. Your composition is perfect for this effect. Very nicely done.   Posted: 07/19/2025 15:10:50

Interesting. To be picky, I'd like to see the shadows removed especially around his head and right arm.   Posted: 07/19/2025 15:57:51
