About the Image(s)

It isn’t any secret that I love junkyards. I think they contain mounds of ferrous art. At the entrance to one on top of a semi trailer sat this beauty with another hulk pushing it from the rear. Perfect. After doing the cropping and contrast adjustments in Lightroom I moved it into Topaz Studio 2 to clean up the multitude of meshed lines and I came up with this. I used several masks to highlight different parts of the vehicle until all the critical parts were clear. I used the final sepia tone and halo to illuminate the whole car. I decided not to raise the brightness of the image or erase the trailing vehicle because I didn’t want this to completely appear to be a stand alone.

Compliments on your seeing and processing, you did an excellent job. I think it can stand a little more sharpening. This is your picture to present as you want, but I see no problem for the vehicle to stand alone. For me the trailing vehicle is a distraction that takes my eye away from The Queen.   Posted: 07/02/2025 14:21:16

I agree with Joe on the trailing vehicle. For me, I'd like to see a color difference between the car and the background. It is an interesting capture though.   Posted: 07/02/2025 18:11:37

I like your color toning, and that you used the same colors for the car as for the background. It blends everything together. I agree with Joe and Marti that the trailing vehicle does not need to be included. Nice capture Al.

I'll be the odd one out ... I like it as is. The trailing vehicle doesn't bother me at all. Also love the colors. Looks to me like a miniature trophy you'd give out for the best junk yard.   Posted: 07/08/2025 14:19:38

The coloring well suits the subject matter. You did a good job of bringing out the details from the dark original. Visually, the car is heavily weighted toward the bottom of the composition -- there may be too much negative space at top. Have you visited Old Car City in White, GA? This must be on your junkyard bucket list.   Posted: 07/14/2025 19:07:25
