About the Image(s)

This was taken at a local airshow a few years back; you'll note that he was set up on one of the flight lines. I was pretty impressed with what he was capable of creating with some cans of spray paint. The ambient lighting was such that I didn't really have to work much with the basic color balance. Really, all that was required was to crop and sharpen a little bit. Taken with my Nikon D500, hand held with a pretty low ISO setting, as it was quite bright with the afternoon sun. Maybe a 70-300 mm lens from some distance away.

The coloring of the sky and the star in the helmet were so striking to me that at first I didn't see the artist painting. Nice capture.   Posted: 04/14/2025 18:19:31

I find this work of art very busy and one that needs lots of studying. However, as you say Jerry, I must compliment the skill of what the artist can do and free-hand at that.   Posted: 04/15/2025 17:42:20

It almost gobbles up the painter but that's part of the story. Good presentation.   Posted: 04/15/2025 21:03:18

This image has a lot going on, and the brilliant colors draw the eye away from the artist. It's a fun capture, and an amazing creation - especially, as Jerry said, with just a few cans of spray paint.   Posted: 04/22/2025 22:07:41

This is a fabulous story. At first glance I did not see the painter due to the camo jacket he is wearing. I like how you cropped and straightened the bottom. It encapsulates him and his supplies. The yellow strip at the bottom acts like a window leading my eye into the painting. The painters use of leading lines is exquisite which frames the pilots expression.   Posted: 04/23/2025 15:23:43
