About the Image(s)

I captured this image of a titmouse standing atop a fence post. I was sitting on our porch when I saw the bird alight. I grabbed several poses but liked this one the best, as it seems to so happy sitting there. Shot with a Canon 7D at 400mm. The ISO was 1250, at f/7.1 and 1/1000 second to freeze the action. Except for cropping to bring the focus onto the bird, I did very little processing in Lightroom.

Good capture. Birds always fly away when I try to take a picture. :) I was looking to maybe off-center him a little by cropping the right more but I like the details in the fence post on the right.   Posted: 04/14/2025 18:27:50

Well done with the background. I agree with Marti that there may be too much negative space on either side, so maybe the sides can be brought in a little while also leaving the bird slightly off center.   Posted: 04/15/2025 01:01:42

Nice capture and I like the background as well. Though there isn't much color in the bird I wonder if enhancing the saturation on it would help with the separation from the background?   Posted: 04/15/2025 21:11:53

Very nice Mike. Apparently your camera settings paid off... Just a point of information for those who may not know. Since the post shows that it was cut off, it is known in Nature competitions as "The presence of the hand of man" and therefore this imaage could not be used as a Nature picture.   Posted: 04/16/2025 00:28:57
