About the Image(s)
I visited Old Tucson--an old western setting used for many Hollywood western movies--a few weeks ago. I first started post processing in color--changed the sky, altered some parts of the image--before I thought this image would look better in black and white to show more shadows and detail. So I moved it into NIK and modified an antique preset. I wanted the result to reflect the look of the old west.

I was just looking through DDG "current images" and yours caught my attention. I'm glad you included the original. Your treatment suits the subject well. I sometimes like a white vignette although I find a lot of photographers do not. I think it suits your image well. I also enjoy the grainy quality that you included. Great job!   Posted: 01/12/2025 22:50:44

I was fortunately able to visit the "original" Old Tucson before it burned down. Can't say that the rebuilt version captured the authentic feel that it once had. I do like the treatment you gave to the old stagecoach. Looks like something that would make a nice notecard that you could sell there.   Posted: 01/14/2025 01:34:42

Al, your rework of the original turned out really well. The sepia-like tone is perfect. This could easily be an illustration to background a magazine article or advertisement, or poster for an Old West themed fair. Or of course a stand alone print for your wall. Nice contrast and textures. Well done!   Posted: 01/15/2025 23:39:37

Yes, my first impression was: 'what a beautiful post card?'. You may consider the same treatment for our February project. A minor improvement you may consider is cropping out the building in the rear, which will give you more room in the front and give a little more room in the front.   Posted: 01/17/2025 20:24:36

Al, I think you certainly succeeded in capturing the look of the Wild West with these two wagons. Your lighting accentuates the story and the way everything in the image is light but the wagons are dark really draws your eye to the wagons. Very well done.   Posted: 01/18/2025 13:27:13

Very nicely done! As Tom mentioned, the way you've set the lighting makes the wagon really pop. One of your better images.   Posted: 01/19/2025 17:13:41

This is perfectly done Al. I have no suggestions for improvement.   Posted: 01/19/2025 18:42:24
