This was taken some years ago at a local RenFest, which featured a large bubble ride. After editing in Camera Raw, I opened up the image in Photo Shop 5 and immediately started to crop out all the upper parts so that I could focus in on the girl. I went into On1 FX8 to take advantage of its dynamic contrast tool to make it a bit more vivid. Taken with my Nikon D500 with 70-300 mm zoom lens, shooting at around 1/2000 sec and with a mid range ISO because of the limited lighting conditions.

Excellent job removing the blue things and green leaves protruding from the left side. I've never seen one of the bubbles before, so I wouldn't have been able to understand what it was without your explanation. I found the green grass stems protruding from the water messy and distracting. Maybe you can do a little more processing and remove them. Posted: 01/14/2025 01:32:34
Yes, excellent action picture. Sorry, I disagree about the grass. I think it is part of the story. To improve the composition, I would consider a little more cropping from the left and top. Posted: 01/17/2025 20:14:40
Fun image. I rather agree with Mike about the grass stems but I guess it could be part of the story as Joe suggests. I know it would be hard to control but if you had a burst of shots, it would be nice to have her head totally inside the circle. I know it's the nature of the plastic ball but she seems a lot more out of focus than the water. Posted: 01/19/2025 17:11:24
I think I would have left it cropped as in the original, and then remove only the 2 green lines and maybe the blue line. I think it's ok that she is out of focus. She is inside a cloudy plastic ball. Maybe enhance her colors, but that's it. The entire image is the story, and it's a fun image. Posted: 01/19/2025 19:07:57
