About the Image(s)
A few weeks ago I took a trip into the mountains above Colorado Springs to the little mining town of Victor. This old mill still stands on the outskirts. After cropping and straightening, I added some texture and saturation, put in a new sky and dulled down the tin roof parts. I also hyped the detail to bring out the texture of the old place. Tech data: Canon 5D, F10, 1/640, 105 mm, ISO 500.

I like the composition. However, it looked overly saturated to me. The color on the mound of dirt on the left has a very unnatural color. However, if that's what you were after, you did it well.   Posted: 11/14/2024 13:26:33

I agree with Mike. I think the sky replacement and filling in the lower corner is all that is needed. I know it's your style but it seems over sharpened.   Posted: 11/14/2024 14:55:16

The sky replacement is beautiful and well done, and adds to the composition. As alluded to by Mike and Marti, the bottom part seems more like an attempt at an HDR. Also, I hope you don't mind if I took a stab at perhaps balancing out the composition by cropping down from the top and adding a bit to the bottom so that it's not so squeezed.   Posted: 11/15/2024 14:11:37

I like the sky replacement you selected. I do feel it is overly saturated. The branches appear to be out of focus. Perhaps this resulted from the texture applied. I do like the version Jerry applied to create better balance.   Posted: 11/20/2024 17:19:04

Yes, I agree with Jerry's suggestion and I love the colors you have brough out. Unfortunately they are mostly hidden behind the foreground structure. Can the Mill be photographed from the other side?   Posted: 11/23/2024 14:48:51
