About the Image(s)

“Mountaineers” is a scene of the mountains of the Dolomite Mountains of Italy.

I though it was interesting capturing the group in an “S” curve. I did basic processing; cropping and eliminating distractions around the edges.

It was a cloudy day, but I am sure the color tones could be better.

The S curve and the colorful hiking gear stand out well from the natural surroundings. Interesting in that the path veers off to the left but following the line of the hikers leads the eye toward the mountains far in the distance. Although it was cloudy I think you could get away with some more saturation, perhaps by selecting out the walkers, inverting, then applying vibrance.   Posted: 11/10/2024 13:47:58

Interesting line with the curve but it looks to me to be just a tad too bright for the surrounding parts of the image. I know you were emphasizing the line but more saturation would have helped the overall image. Good crop on the left.   Posted: 11/12/2024 19:27:16

Excellent composition. The bright yellow packs on the hikers help make this image pop.   Posted: 11/14/2024 13:27:54

I agree with Al about the brightness. Actually, I like the original better. To me, it shows more of the size of the valley and the people seem sharper in your original.   Posted: 11/14/2024 14:52:27

I call this a jackpot image….S curves, colorful actors and nature all packed into one. I suggest the crop be lowered to capture the start of the S curve (to the right of the lower right tree). I think this will add balance to the scene. I do a little contrast, saturation or a glow will enhance it nicely.   Posted: 11/20/2024 17:26:28
