I have never done a composite before using my own images, so it took quite some time to find images that I wanted to use, and that made sense to use in a composite.
This is basically what I did. I opened the three images in Photoshop that I had selected for the project. For the turtle, I selected the turtle, and then pasted it onto a new blank layer (Ctrl-J). I did the same thing with the fairy. Then I copied the turtle/blank layer onto the wildflower background. To size the turtle, I drew a rectangle around it using the rectangular marquee tool. Then I did a Ctrl-T to place transform handles on the rectangle. I used these handles to shrink the turtle to the size I wanted, and used the move tool to place him in the grass. I repeated these steps with the fairy to place her on the turtle's back. So that was my compositing process. To bring it together a little better, I added a white gradient to help even out the color and tones. It was a fun project!

Congratulations on such an excellent job for your first composite image. You definitely chose the perfect subject(s). The complimentary colors of the turtle against the flowers is an excellent combination. I love how you place the fairy on the turtle. This is all quite magical. I image a composite perfectionist might offer a few suggestions on how to blend the various pieces together more. However, I admire you for trying something new and getting such outstanding results. Hope you keep perfecting this skill!   Posted: 11/01/2024 19:12:38

Great job on the composite. One thing that sort of "bothered" me is that the turtle is quite bright and sharp and the flowers are more muted and foggy-especially in the background. Keep up the good work.   Posted: 11/07/2024 05:54:21

Wasn't November a "theme" month with Compositing the theme?   Posted: 11/07/2024 11:25:20

My bad - yes it was. You get the bonus points. :)   Posted: 11/10/2024 00:21:03

A nice fantasy image for your first attempt. I think Marti has a point about the difference in color balance, but since this pic is more dream-like anything goes. The turtle seems to be hovering above the ground rather than being rooted in the turf, but again, why not? Keep at it! Maybe there will be an app for this 'ride share' some day in the near future.   Posted: 11/09/2024 22:50:36

Bravo. I like the mystical look the haze offered but I was a little put off by the softness in the lower left and right corners with a bright center focus on the turtle. Still a great job.   Posted: 11/12/2024 19:21:52

Yes you get the bonus points! You did an awesome job for the first time. I agree with the other comments about the turtle. I wonder if applying a Gaussian blur to it would do the trick.   Posted: 11/20/2024 17:07:51

Well done indeed Peggy. The only thing that bothered me is suspended effect, as Jerry mentioned. Also what may help is softening the edges to get a better blending effect.   Posted: 11/23/2024 14:27:39
