About the Image(s)
I was at the Wild Rivers National Monument north of Taos, NM in early October. While walking along a trail overlooking the Rio Grande, I spotted a number of artists painting various landscapes. I liked this one the best as it showed the artist, his painting and the subject. The subject is the Rio Grande gorge (800 feet deep) with Ute Mountain in the background. Shot with a Canon 7D using a 24-105 lens at 78 mm. It was f/8.0 at 1/800 second. The ISO was 200 under a bright sun. Minor adjustments in Lightroom to boost the colors.

The image definitely tells the story of the artist. Good capture.   Posted: 11/07/2024 05:56:53

Interesting capture. The artist's vision seems to be a little more colorful than the actual view, as his mountain is quite green. Nice work.   Posted: 11/09/2024 16:41:23

Good story within-a-story telling here: it's reproducing the artist in the middle of him reproducing the "reality" that is before him. Well done color balance and the tree in the upper left acts as a framing device, as does the bush on the right. Just curious -- would it have been better to catch him as he was looking out at the landscape? Either way would work, I guess.   Posted: 11/09/2024 23:04:16

Good shot of the artist and your overall treatment of the subject. However, I feel a little closed in here. Maybe expanding the image putting the painter in the left third would make it easier to take in.   Posted: 11/12/2024 19:32:11

Great capture. It would have been nice if you had captured him looking at the scene, but what you have works. I have two suggestions. One is to remove the one branch that touches the mountain. I believe this will open up the frame a bit more. The other is to add a light vignette. To the entire scene.   Posted: 11/20/2024 17:31:48

This kind of picture calls for seeing the scene, the painting and the painter and you have all three. Well donbe. I agree with Kaylyn's suggestion.   Posted: 11/23/2024 14:53:39
