Woodies on a Log by Leslie Larson

April 2026 - Woodies on a Log

About the Image(s)

Just got home so will have to put in an old one. Sadly, the drought is so severe in the west we have no pond for waterfowl of any sort this season. Wood ducks visiting and breeding here may be a thing of the past. The Colorado River which provides water for the whole southwest may be on life support this season with snowpack at an historic low.

Leslie, this is an amazing image. I can't believe how sharp it is! I even flipped it upside down and it is still tack sharp. (Upside down version below) They are striking ducks and are beautifully image captured by you. Great job catching them with all their heads looking left.   Posted: 04/08/2026 16:21:39

The tight crop is done with great skill. The perfect reflection of the Wood Ducks elevates the photo to the next level. This is a wall-hanger for sure.   Posted: 04/09/2026 12:41:04

Great job at flipping the image. You may wish to introduce motion blur to enhance the water movement of the reflection. It still is a wonderful image.   Posted: 04/10/2026 13:28:25

Leslie, this is a very nice photo. The color is crisp and the plumage and eyes are sharp. How lucky to catch this pose of the male and three females.   Posted: 04/15/2026 12:52:33
