About the Image(s)
This shot was taken at the start of March at Straw's Bridge lake. This is the
earliest that I have encountered a new Egyptian Goose arrival. Also unusually
they only seem to have the one, when Egyptians can have a brood of up to 12.
Egyptian Geese only seem to have arrived in UK about 10 years ago, but now
they are well established everywhere. Unusually, they normally nest high up in
trees, from which the youngsters are expected to fall after birth.

Mike, this is a WOW image. Have never seen an Egyptian Goose. Gorgeous! Perfect crop, great colors and sharp. Hate saying I wouldn't change a thing but I will say it anyway. This is a winner!   Posted: 04/08/2026 16:12:51

This is a beautiful capture of the Egyptian Goose and the goslings. There colors are unique and beautiful. On a lake in Ethiopia was the first time I saw them. Their nurturing care of the young offspring is notable. The composition is spot-on along with the water backdrop.   Posted: 04/09/2026 12:38:55

This a great capature and so cute. The whites have lost detail. maybe you can rework it a little.   Posted: 04/09/2026 13:18:05
What a fantastic goose. Is that the female with the gosling? If so, what must the male look like? It seems they nest like wood ducks and mergansers here. There are videos of the little ducklings jumping and bouncing on the ground, hopping up and walking to the water.
It is interesting how wildlife is adapting to climate change. I assume that is why they are now common in the UK?   Posted: 04/09/2026 16:08:07

I'm guessing the one with the green is the Male? what great pink legs. These are truly magnificent birds. Plus I never heard of geese nesting in trees. Learn something every day (hopefully).   Posted: 04/10/2026 15:33:44
The photo is beautiful, congratulations. I think it would have been even better if the entire reflection was visible.   Posted: 04/13/2026 17:22:48
Mike, really great color and detail in the plumage. A moving parenting scene over the chick. Great eye sharpness in both the mother and chick. Very nice photo.   Posted: 04/15/2026 12:45:50
