Young Mute Swans In Flight by Mike Cowdrey, MPSA

December 2025 - Young Mute Swans In Flight

About the Image(s)

Taken at my favorite lake at Straw's Bridge at the end of October,
these swans have retained a lot of their juvenile colour, and I liked
the way they were grouped together.

Mike,

I'm a fan of the large birds like the Mute Swans in flight. Their takeoffs and landings are like the choreography of a ballet both in sound and order. Each Swan's wing position is different.   Posted: 12/01/2025 14:46:45

Good number...3. And the wing positions as Ted said are perfect. Had no idea mute swan juveniles looked like that. We don't get any mutes around here. Too bad the background is so busy, but you have no choice about that. You might think about selecting the swans and blurring the background to make them pop more (if you use PhotoShop).   Posted: 12/03/2025 22:34:59

Great Mute Swans Mike. Great job stoping action with the wings in all different positions. All the swans are sharp and with no hot spots which is not easy. I took the liberty to tone down the background and I think it made the swans pop. What do you think Mike. Excellent composition.   Posted: 12/04/2025 23:52:22

The darkened background really makes this photo. Like you say, they now POP.   Posted: 12/10/2025 03:41:34
