Yellow-rumped Warbler by Ted Evans

December 2025 - Yellow-rumped Warbler

About the Image(s)

One of my favorite birding locations for domestic species is Big Marsh Park, which has a small lake and trails. On Saturday May 10, 2025, I got an early start to Big Marsh hoping to capture some good photographs. While the lake didn't provide many opportunities, I did spot a songbird in the treetops. While giving a valiant attempt in identifying this bird at home, I was stumped. My best guess is that this is a genus of Warbler.

However, I don't know the species, so I'll just settle on Big Marsh Warbler. If anyone objects or can identify this bird, I'd appreciate the help. My go-to source guide books are Sibley Birds and The Crossley ID Guide (Eastern Birds).

I like the pose of the bird in the tree. The plain background is also very nice.   Posted: 12/02/2025 08:55:47

Well someone, if not you, identified your warbler. You managed to get it in good focus even though it must have been far away in the treetops. The foliage in the background suggests fall instead of spring. Interesting.   Posted: 12/03/2025 22:30:34

Ted, excellent image of a Warbler and I especially like the branch leading in. You did a great job freezing the action and having sharpness where needed. I might tone down the bright yellow below the branch. Other than that a strong composition.   Posted: 12/04/2025 22:47:54
