About the Image(s)

We tend to get Mourning Doves nests several times a year on our grounds.

Marilyn, love where you caught this young dove in the V of a branch and the background is super. I did think the baby was a little dark and contrasty so I lightened it slightly. What do you think? Still a super image.   Posted: 07/04/2025 00:42:13

Tom, thank you for your comment. I agree and like your image. did you use dodge to lighten the photo. How did you take down the contrast. I sent the original photo. Was it a problem with it.   Posted: 07/04/2025 02:57:23

Marilyn, So sorry, my mistake. Did not see the Original when originally posting. Here it is.   Posted: 07/04/2025 16:19:49

I like the little dove just as it is. Not a particularly colorful subject, but every feather is in place and the eye is shining bright. You did a good job fixing the original. The background is much improved.   Posted: 07/08/2025 07:10:44

Thank you Leslie. The doves keep returning to our home for nesting. I have many more photos of the.   Posted: 07/14/2025 01:16:40

Marilyn, I like the pose of the bird, who sat so patiently while you took this shot. The dark exposure kind of hides much of the detail for me, so I applied a mask to the bird and increased the exposure a bit, which highlights detail across the bird nicely. The eye is great, really sharp and bright and didn't require any further processing. The feathers and beak are sharp with lots of detail. Really a very nice shot.   Posted: 07/11/2025 01:41:00

Thank you Jim. I like what you did to increase the exposure. Good adjustment.   Posted: 07/14/2025 01:19:04

I really like Jim's version, it brings out the life in the little chick. My suggestion is to add a bit more on the right from the original to give it a bit more space in front. We get a lot of these doves in our area but I've never come across a nest.   Posted: 07/15/2025 18:48:54

It has been well captured, but is too dark as it stands. I think that Jim's suggestion solves the problem, and shows that this is a very interesting shot of a very interesting bird!   Posted: 07/17/2025 10:34:56

Have to admit Jim's version takes away that muddy look and adds a bit of color. Makes a more interesting shot.   Posted: 07/24/2025 17:04:09
