A Bird in Hand by Ron Spencer

April 2025 - A Bird in Hand

About the Image(s)

This is a Hooded Warbler being released after banding. I liked the kind expression on the gentleman's face, as well as the anticipation of release for the bird. Sorry, don't have settings for the photo.

Ron, I like your photo. It displays a kind of emotional intimacy between mankind and nature. Nicely done.   Posted: 04/07/2025 15:31:33

This is a tender moment not often captured. I would think the bird would fly off too rapidly after the banding is done, to get something like this.   Posted: 04/07/2025 20:16:04

Ron, this is a real human nature shot. Catching the Warbler looking right at you is super and the gentleman adoring the small bird is touching. I cropped the lower portion of the image to get rid of the distracting hand. Great catch.   Posted: 04/07/2025 21:01:29

A good information shot, both of the bird, and of the bander. He must be skilled to be able to band a bird so small! A tender moment!   Posted: 04/18/2025 09:58:54

I hope it wasn't the gentleman holding the bird who told you it was a hooded warbler. It's a common yellowthroat. That out of the way, I love the shot, esp. with Tom's crop. The man's expression is priceless, and the little warbler sitting so patiently is darling.   Posted: 04/18/2025 14:20:15
