About the Image(s)
Dark-eyed juncos now include several varieties once thought separate species. We have all the different varieties here in winter, but only the grey-headed stays in CO all year. This particular one will leave in spring for northern nesting. It's considered the pink-sided Oregon junco variety.

Beautiful side profile of this junco perched on wood against a very nice background with great bokeh. Colors are great and the detail in the feathers are perfect. I like the crop and the catch light in the eye is a great touch. This is a great image and I have no recommendations for improvement. I am curious what lens and focal length was used, or what the original image before processing looked like. Very nice Leslie.   Posted: 02/07/2025 20:51:40
Thanks Jim, I have only 2 lenses. My 70-300 L series is the one I used, no doubt, and probably at 300mm. I like that lens and have had it for nearly 13 years. It's been on many adventures. The other is a 24-105 L series zoom.   Posted: 02/07/2025 23:55:12
Beautiful simplistic image Leslie. The Junco is tack sharp and the background is absolutely perfect. This looks like another one of your images that National Geographic might want. Like Jim said, "No recommendations for improvement."
