About the Image(s)
I again went back several years to the same Florida trip that yielded the Purple Gallinule that I recently showed the group. This double-crested cormorant was racing on the water gathering momentum for a takeoff when I captured a series of images with my Canon 7D Mark II camera and 100-400mm lens. I selected this image and did some basic adjustments in Lightroom including removal of some vegetation in the bottom left corner as well as cropping area from the left side, to render the cormorant more off-center. I kept most of the vegetation to show the cormorant's habitat. Enjoy!

Don, you caught this cormorant at the peak of action. Great job freezing the action and having the sharpness where needed. I hope you don't mind , I cropped it a little more and used haze removal and I think by doing this it makes the action and bird more prominent. Great catch.   Posted: 12/10/2024 14:00:24

Thanks Tom. I must agree that removal of all the foreground vegetation improves this image considerably.   Posted: 12/10/2024 16:09:53

Caught in good action, but unfortunately the splash hides more detail of the actual bird than I would have liked.   Posted: 12/19/2024 12:18:05

Thanks Mike. That's unfortunate, but that's how I captured it.   Posted: 12/19/2024 15:01:29
