This Caracara was taken in a wetlands area south of lake Okeechobee, Florida. Caracaras are birds of prey in the falcon family. Caracaras are principally birds of South and Central America, just reaching the southern United States.
Shot with a Nikon D850, Speed 1/400th of a sec, Focal Length 400mm, ISO-2500, F5.6, Lens was an Nikkor 200-500.

What a gorgeous bird in perfect focus. Love the contrasting, unobtrusive background. Really sets off the colors of the beak and feathers. I've seen them in good numbers in Mexico and S. America, but never so close.   Posted: 11/05/2024 17:22:52
