About the Image(s)

Over the last couple of years I have been shooting country fairs here in Virginia. I want to create a body of work which might be exhibited. For this fair, I decided to try a different take on the conventional image of a carnival ride. I wanted to have a small part still and clear with the rest showing movement. But just enough so that it was still recognizable.
Nikon z 6ii, ISO 50, 42mm f 22 1/5 sec.
I apologize for not commenting on last month's entries. I tried to log on but comments were closed. A great group of images.

A very different approach to a wheel to the previous picture by Mel. This shows all the feel of the spinning wheel in a way that our eyes cannot see. You have achieved you aim with the movement. The colour is great with the bonus of a blue sky and some light cloud, which seems to add to the feeling of motion.   Posted: 07/12/2025 09:41:58

Hi Jay,
This image accomplishes what you set out to do-it is an unconventional and very well thought out photo of the Ferris Wheel. I like the way you focused in on the part of the wheel closest to the sky...it enables a lovely interplay of the blended colors of the wheel with the beautiful blue sky. Well done!

You used shutter speed well to create a painterly effect. You captured a strong contrast between the blurred gondolas and the clear central wheel. I also like the harmonious combination of blue and yellow.   Posted: 07/14/2025 13:51:16
