About the Image(s)
This was taken early am in Franz Joseph, NZ. The light and shadow and play of the fog caught my eye. I have tried to bring out the detail, but not sure it is a complete success. Would appreciate comments.
ISO 2500 110mm f 4.5 1/2500 sec.

Hi Jay, The light & shadow here are well done...they certainly provide a sense of the place at the time you made the image. You don't indicate whether you were able to use a tripod...If you could use a tripod I would suggest a lower ISO and higher F stop--this might help with the definition. Also, if you haven't tried it you might look into Nik Silver Efex--it can work as a Photoshop plugin and gives lots of options on how to process the image.

I like this the way it is. You have caught the drama of the scene before you.   Posted: 03/18/2025 13:55:14
Jay, sorry I am so late. I thought I commented some time ago but I did not. This is a picture of the sky, the mountains are just a base for it. I was surprised going to tanzania that the locals seemed to put the horizon very near the bottom and forget the rule of thirds. I learned to like that and started using it on some images. I think it works with this image and you might look and see if you like it. You can do it here just by scrolling the image down a bit. Actually with the black on black down thee I can't tell very well where the bottom of the image is.   Posted: 03/30/2025 23:08:57
I like this a lot. For me the black front add to the "heavy" feeling. Very well done.

Jay - you have certainly captured the drama of the scene - if it were my image, I would like to see some detail in the base mountain. Just a thought.   Posted: 03/31/2025 20:04:30
