About the Image(s)

In October I participated in an architectural photography workshop in NYC. We shot for five days. The emphasis of the workshop was on abstracts. My intention was to work on intentional camera movement (ICM). This was one of my best efforts, an old building on Duane St. in lower Manhattan. The lines of the fire escape keep it from becoming an unrecognizable blur.

Hi Jay,
This to me is a great example of an ICM `graphic' image. The fire escapes tell an urban story with the blur provided by the ICM creating a bit of mystery..You also managed to get the windows and fire escapes all aligned...tough to do in an ICM! Did you also consider converting the image to a pure black & white shot?...It would be interesting to see what that would look like .

An interesting take on Architectural Photography. The movement seems well controlled and has given us a pattern picture that makes one wonder what we are looking at. Well done.   Posted: 12/15/2024 13:44:23

Hi Jay,
Nice abstract! The blur gives a painterly effect to the photo. The clear diagonal lines contrast well against the soft blurry background.   Posted: 12/17/2024 15:31:10
