About the Image(s)
This was shot last January at the Martin Luther King march with a Nikon Z8, 48mm focal length, 1/800s, f/18, ISO 1000. Lots of post processing, which included removal of a fire engine (which was right next to them), cropped in, adjusted brightness and contrast on the white hat and coat, and enhanced colors.

I think this is an interesting composition in terms of color, since the chromaticity of the clothes used by the girl in the middle contrasts with the achromatic white of the clothes used by the two subjects at her right and left sides. Probably if the woman at the left were using a white cap or hat, the composition would be a bit more symmetrical.   Posted: 08/10/2026 03:32:39
Very interesting, I wonder what the story is here. Friends? related? What are they looking at? I like the contrast of the three different hairstyles (I count the fur lined hood as a hairstyle). Good "street photography".   Posted: 08/12/2026 21:37:37
You have captured a very emotional moment, maybe a mother or grandmother in the centre, daughter and granddaughter. I think I will blurred the background a little bit more and maybe unsaturated it. Just to focus on the trio.   Posted: 08/12/2026 23:01:34
This is a simple picture as far as content goes, but it makes one speculate. What is the connection between them, what are they watching, where are they. We see nothing of the march that you mention. Well seen   Posted: 08/15/2026 09:26:47
All excellent points, John. To be honest, I don't know what they were looking at. This was shot before the march got started. It was a cold morning, and I think they were just huddled together to stay warm. But you're right, what is the story? It's too undefined. Thanks for your question!   Posted: 08/15/2026 12:52:53
I agree with John. Sometimes photos don't have to be defined. We don't have to have a start and end. This leaves it to the viewer of the photo to think/define it themselves. Makes it more interesting.   Posted: 08/16/2026 00:14:38
