Timing is great! Maybe it should be cropped a littel more from the right.   Posted: 07/11/2025 00:35:18

Thanks Joe, I have cropped a little bit on the right hand side, yes I think it improved the composition.   Posted: 07/14/2025 05:16:56

I like the moment that you have captured. The ripples in the water after the heron has struck tell the story. Then we have a nice reflection. Maybe it might help if the light area along the top edge was cropped, just a thought.   Posted: 07/12/2025 09:06:59

Thanks John, I have work it out with this lighter zone. It's really distracting the lhis area. Thanks for pointing me out.   Posted: 07/14/2025 05:19:33

You shot the bird just at the right time, congratulations. I like the composition in general because it reminds me of the paints of impressionist artists.   Posted: 07/12/2025 21:21:59

Here is my new version with all the suggestions from Joe and John, do you know which impressionist painter reminds you this image. Thanks,   Posted: 07/14/2025 05:26:37

I guess it reminds me of paintings like "The Water Lily-Pond" from Claude Monet, that kind of style.   Posted: 07/14/2025 23:48:59

You timed this shot perfectly. If you have a sharpening tool, you might try sharpen the bird's eyes and beak. The reflection of the bird in the water is a nice effect. I particularly like the soft muted background as it enhances your main subject. Overall, great photo!   Posted: 07/15/2025 00:46:38

Thanks Suzanne, Good point, I will do the sharpening of the eyes and its beak.   Posted: 07/15/2025 06:58:35

My comments apply to the new version. I like the composition and the way that the image and reflection blend together. For me, the bird seems a little small, and the fish especially gets lost - I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it. Some things to try include tighter cropping, and/or a vignette to make the bird more prominent, and perhaps selectively brighten the fish a little to make it more noticeable.   Posted: 07/28/2025 02:28:17
