About the Image(s)

I took this picture at the Palafoxian Library, located in the state of Puebla, Mexico. It was the first public library founded in the American continent (1646), and it contains books from the XV to the XIX century written in 14 languages. I had to use a long exposition time since I was not allowed to use my flash and consequently the image is somewhat blurred at the right side.

Technical details.

Camera: EOS 1500D
ISO: 800
f point: f/9
Exposition time: 1/15 s
Focal distance: 43 mm.

The library story is interesting, but all of the patrons in the photo are distracting. You might consider some AI processing to remove them and to add exposure and detail to the balance of the framme.   Posted: 01/11/2025 21:53:37

Thank you, good suggestion. I will try that and see how it looks.   Posted: 01/12/2025 23:40:33

Thanks for showing us such a beautiful library, very hard to take without all the people around. Maybe it will work if you take a very but very long exposure, depending if people are moving around or not.   Posted: 01/12/2025 06:21:24

Thank you, next time I visit the place I will bring my tripod to use a long exposition time.   Posted: 01/12/2025 23:42:21

I perhaps am going to be a minority, but in addition to the building which you have shown very well, you, due to the people in the image have captured a moment in time (street photography) that will never be repeated. Well done

What a wonderful place. So often we see buildings such as this devoid of life, this has it in bucket fulls. I think the people make this picture. Well done.   Posted: 01/17/2025 09:30:13

Ed, you are not in the minority. I too like the people in the foreground. A 15s exposure is pretty slow and I'm wondering if you couldn't have increased the ISO instead? I know it's a balancing act, but I'm finding I can shoot with higher ISO's and not get too much grain.   Posted: 01/17/2025 11:29:00

Thank you Suzanne. I will do that next time and if I get a lot of grain, I will try to remove it with Lighthroom´s AI.   Posted: 01/18/2025 19:38:32

I think you should of yelled out FREEZE! That would of stopped them but then again they would all be looking at you! Seriously, I like the photo of the library with people moving and using the library. Nice and a different take then an empty room.   Posted: 01/18/2025 21:06:51

I like the symmetric composition. I think you could have used a faster shutter speed and a higher iso to freeze the people. Topaz Photo AI does a great job at eliminating noise and sharpening high iso photos. My eye keeps being drawn to the bright area at the top of the picture, especially what looks like a gray sky through a large window. Perhaps decrease brightness at the top to bring more focus to the books and people.   Posted: 01/21/2025 04:46:19
