About the Image(s)
I took this photo on November of 2023, at the beginning of the sailing on the Ferry from Horseshoebay to Nanaimo city port.
It was taken with my Sony RX 10IV with ISO 500, Lenses at 60 mm f/9 at 1/100. No tripod.
Basic editing in camera raw, I use Denoise with Topaz, Nic Silver Effex, blended the layers with different opacities.
Do you think I should have taken with a specific filter,

My eyes are having a problem finding the subject in this photo. Perhaps some drama (contrast) could be added to the sky and background. In Lightroom, the dehaze filter sometimes can gives good results for this type of image. Also, you could consider cropping from the right and lightening some shadows in the wooded area.   Posted: 01/11/2025 21:29:46

Thanks Glenn, I have lighted out a little more the wooded area, also I did the cropping, but for the background I did the opposite and have blurred and smooth the background with Silver Effex. I tried the other way, I mean to dehaze it but for me it seems it change the mood of the image.   Posted: 01/12/2025 05:27:34

I like the composition, I think it is really good. I agree with Glenn that some more contrast in the sky and background would help to enhance the image.   Posted: 01/12/2025 01:23:31

The wooded area now looks like the subject. The image is improved.   Posted: 01/12/2025 15:04:43

I find something relaxing about this picture. The background due to the weather conditions has a nice softness but detail is there if you care to look. I think the fact it is monochrome helps, it removes the confusion that colours can bring.   Posted: 01/17/2025 09:26:54

Interesting, moody image of landscape. I do like the monochrome effect and clouds hanging in the mountainous background. Good sharpness in the foreground. I wish I knew more about filters, but input from others in the group is always helpful.   Posted: 01/17/2025 11:22:13

I also like it in monochrome. It gives the background of fog a sense of relaxation to me. The newer version with more cropping is good but I would prefer you don't blur the background since you loose detail of the mountainous area.   Posted: 01/18/2025 21:00:45

This works well in monochrome, but as others have noted - bringing out some more detail and contrast in the background would help. If by filters, you mean the old practice of using filters - such as a red filter to darken a blue sky - you can get the same effect in Silver Efex using the Color Filter adjustment and varying Hue and Strength.   Posted: 01/21/2025 04:34:15
