About the Image(s)
This image was taken during my Ecuador Photo Workshop in 2020 at our venue high up in the Andes Mountains. Our setup used local flowers to attract the birds and flash units strategically located to capture the action. My camera was mounted on a tripod and equipped with a shutter-activated flash transmitter. This beautiful Purple-bibbed White Tip hummingbird was one of my favorite subjects.
Technical: 1/250 sec, f/11, ISO 400, 460mm, Flash.

Beautiful color, and very sharp. I don't think the flowers add to the image. They compete with the bird for attention because they are so bright and centrally located. Perhaps decrease their brightness and saturation, or maybe even erase altogether and re-crop. If you have it on the original file, I think adding some space under the bird would help.   Posted: 12/12/2024 03:13:03

I like how you captured the hummingbird, it is something I have not been able to do to my entire satisfaction. I also think that trying to isolate or highlight the bird a little bit more would be helpful.   Posted: 12/12/2024 18:42:28

OMG, I can count the feathers, incredible, it looks like a hummingbird made of Murano glass. Spectacular image. Beautiful vibrant colours of the Hummingbird. Also I think cropping on the left will give a better balance. Agree with Sheldon on lowering the saturation of the flower, and if possible adding space on the lower part.   Posted: 12/13/2024 11:04:34

Great detail you captured! Always difficult capturing this photo so close with a flash. Really beautiful!   Posted: 12/14/2024 14:53:30

A great picture of the bird, sharp and well composed. I do on this occasion think that the inclusion of the flowers draws the eye a bit more than the bird. So much detail in the bird.   Posted: 12/15/2024 11:12:22
