I really enjoyed your B&W version, Christian. I liked the moodiness that the clouds present of the darkened hills, and the in focus tree in the foreground for balance. The light beams create leading lines from the bright background to the darker, sharper foreground. Very nice!

Big Sur! One of my absolute favorite places! Love the B&W version. The diagonal lines give energy to the image. It looks like the center of the top left corner was darkened some. I wonder if cloning from another area to get a bit of texture in there would work? Blown-out areas are tough to tame down! It's a beautiful image.   Posted: 07/13/2024 05:23:27

A wonderful image, so much better than the original. I have no suggestions, except as Darlene mentioned, to darken the top left corner.   Posted: 07/21/2024 12:44:44

Overall I really like this except for the loss of gradation around the sun. The processed version makes it more defined which I find distracting. Perhaps layering in the original upper left (converted to monochrome) to bring back the softer edges?   Posted: 07/24/2024 15:27:13

I want to be honest: First glance to the original I would have thrown away the picture ... what a fault!

Sensational change into B&W! Be honest too: Did you intended that while taking the photo? Very strong light over the trees with the best down the right corner. Precise line! Of course the left corner is too light. I'm not sure if there is any painting in the end. But that does not matter - it leeds into the story. A must have! Congrats!   Posted: 07/25/2024 01:59:39
